History of the Society
The Society was first established as a voluntary association in
January 1944 by a group of persons who had been designated by White
to share responsibility for the developments he had planned. They
included
- Ronald Dussek, who after leaving Radley College became organist
of the pro-cathedral at Guilford and was chairman of the Society
until his death in 1961
- Dom Bernard McElligott, O.S.B., the authority on Gregorian
Chant
- Mrs. Edith White, who was appointed Director of Studies
- Arthur D. Hewlett, the present Honorary President
In 1965 the Society was reconstituted under a trust deed and registered
as a charity.
